Inspector General's Report:
| On January 30 2009, CDCR Secretary Matthew Cate (along with his Deputy Chief of Staff Lee Seale, Inspector General Dave Shaw, and Prison Law Office Director Don Spector) visited the Honor Program. They toured the facility and met with prison administrators, correctional staff, and prisoner leadership. The Honor Program prisoners gave an impressive presentation, and a candid and positive discussion was had among all stakeholders. Since then, Secretary Cate has requested that the prison prepare a proposal for him on how the Honor Program can be fully implemented and supported by the CDCR. Once again, this is a time of opportunity for the Honor Program, and we need your help! While these are encouraging developments, we need to ensure that this initial show of interest is actually followed up by positive action. |
